Where have I been? Where haven’t I been?

During the last few weeks I have sat 12 exams, handed in 1 piece of coursework, enjoyed a nice cold beer in the sun, discovered fabulous shops as well as my latest tv series addictions: Hannibal and Vikings.

Oh, I also got my hideous dry hair cut into a glorious carré thanks to the best mother-in-law one could ever wish for.

On historical weekends.

After being covered in shaving foam and 34 pages of History of International relations later, I am sat in my kitchen wearing my boyfriend’s clothes (and underwear), watching doctor who and drawing on military history maps.

Sim, oh you.

Exam timetable for next week:
Monday: English oral comprehension -hardly a real exam-
Tuesday: Environmental shit test -no, that’s not the real name of the module-
Wednesday: Translation (French-Italian)
Friday: Translation (English-French)
These guys here are however the easiest of the bunch. Back in the UK, we’d normally have around 5 final exams MAX, but the Frenchies just love to complicate their lives, which makes that we have in fact, 11.
The upcoming boys include:
May 06: Macro-economics and International Relations -yep, two on the same day-
May 07: Public/Private law
May 17: International law
AKA

Studying Langues etrangères appliquées is good for you.
I bid you a good night.

So, I finally got the EU Institutions exam out the way and I’ve been interviewed for the European Parliament.

Here’s an accurate representation of how I will be spending the rest of the day:

@Gallia, Strasbourg
Internal communication: As of yesterday -as you may have noticed-, I started re-blogging posts again. I am usually not a huge fan of re-blogging because, although there are some pretty cool stuff out there, I like my blog to be a collection of personal content, ideas and life experiences. Due to my unconditional surrender to cute kitties and pretty things in general, you may see a lot more re-blogs on here.
Things are getting pretty tough at university, and I will be sitting 5 exams this week - mind you, the boyfriend has it worse with 6 exams -so for today I shall leave you with a picture I took about a month ago of the fabulous view from Gallia station in Strasbourg [find out more here].
Now that I’m done with photographic descriptions and notifications alike, here are the highlights of my week:
In a moment of insanity, I decided to go out for some savage shopping and came home with a black coat and a fabulous sparkly green dress (pics to come);
I gave my second presentation since I moved to France, and rumours say I nailed it!;
In order to stay awake during British Civilisation lectures, I decided to invest in a couple of games: notably Rage and COD4 MW -awesome-;
As we’ll have next week off, me and the boyfriend decided to use our free time to visit the European Parliament, walk to Germany (and possibly have a pic-nic at the Jardin des deux rives), climb the Cathedral and do something very special for his birthday on the 31st (which I will not mention here because he reads this and it’s meant to be a surprise);
To celebrate the end of my exams next Friday, I will go to Parc de l’Orangerie and rent a boat to sail around the lake;
I can now say what my name is in Russian: меня савут симонне. я иду в библиотеку (I go to the library) is a freebee, but I am just so proud that I managed to learn at least something since I am studying 4 foreign languages at the same time (i.e. French, German, Russian and Dutch)

Typical me when I make it home after 8h of lectures. Who would have thought that French youngsters spend their life sitting in a university amphitheatre?
Oh, and what about the 20 odd exams you have to take each semester?

It is May 18 today, yet it seems like Winter is coming for real. The stressful and busy week I had led me one step closer to insanity, and my only moments of joy consisted in posting funny memes on Game of Thrones and repeatedly watching baby sloths videos -and found out that the little sloth whose pics I posted in my previous post is a very curious baby girl called Taz-. I will not bore you on my extensive revision of segmentation strategies, pricing policies and comparisons between traditional and recent methods, but I will tell you the results of my stressful week: I nailed my marketing exam, finally applied to Strasbourg University, got a job as an Interpreter/Translator for Italian and French and put an end to stress and worries in style by watching The Dictator -which made me laugh so hard I thought my head was going to fall off-.
Three exams down, two to go, after which I will be taking the first plane to Douce France and disappear off the face of the Earth for a couple of days.

After not finding the bag of my dreams, queuing for ages at the student centre, and ending up in the ghetto whilst I was looking for an interpreting agency - classy times -, my week got a lucky twist. Me and the boyfriend randomly decided to get a nice hotel in Birmingham and go on a shop hunt -as I could really use a break from it all-, which allowed me to find another, much prettier bag, a lovely summer coat, and sit in nice cafés by the canal having espressos and chocolate doughnuts -as well as finding out my average mark for German is a sound 84%-

Such a lucky twist, as all good things, couldn’t last long: my schedule for the next two days includes:

  • French exam at 9.30am tomorrow;
  • Teaching at 6pm (to that, add that my lecture is being observed);
  • Hardest exam of the year the day after.

….So here are 4 cute motivational/good-luck sloths for me!!

The Warwickshire diaries part.2: Leamington Spa&Warwick
I must say I am mildly in love with Warwick and its castle. After an endless journey which involved changing bus at Leamington Spa and spending a ridiculous amount of money to get on a very grim bus, we made our way through the old Warwick city centre and finally into the castle with its majestic towers and superb reconstructions of life in the Middle Ages. No point in saying how much fun I had and how much of a pleasant day this has been, as you can surely grasp from the picture I posted: out of the 52 photos I took, I thought the one in which I was trying to push the boyfriend off the tower was probably the best. One more day of wandering round is left before I get into hardcore revision mode for my final exams, time flies when you’re having fun!
PS: In case I didn’t get my point across, do visit Warwick castle: the entry fee is ridiculous, but you’ll find it is well worth it.
